Squires Down, Dorset: people working with nature

We’re delighted to continue out sponsorship of bird ringing at Squires Down in Dorset, a remarkable voluntary project which is playing its part in safeguarding wildlife habitats for, among other things, the Meadow Pipit pictured above.. Our new T2 packing line is now fully operational

The line, which has involved an investment of £600k, enables us more efficiently to pack better looking bags more securely on the pallet. As you'll see when you watch, our packs now have a side panel which vastly improves presentation at point of sale, making, for example, the RHS Endorsement more visible. Mr Alan Evans 1942-2016

We are sad to report the death of Mr Alan Evans, a major shareholder in Melcourt Industries Ltd. Alan’s life’s work was in building up the egg packing business of A Evans & Son Ltd of Bishop’s Castle, Shropshire, founded in 1936 by his grandfather Arthur and then taken on by his father, Jack Evans. Melcourt growing media goes to the Falkland Islands – with Seiont Nurseries

Seiont Nurseries, who grow all their production in Melcourt growing media, has an order going to The Falkland Islands later this week which is probably the furthest Melcourt material of this kind has travelled. We are delighted to know from social media that there is a burgeoning demand for SylvaGrow both north and south of the border. The unfortunate news is that due to plant health restrictions we are currently unable to send anything containing bark there unless it has undergone a detailed and specific sterilization process.
