Big new investment at Melcourt Industries (February 2005)

Melcourt Industries have completed a major new investment at its Tetbury, Gloucestershire, headquarters with a major refurbishment of its yard infrastructure to speed up collections and deliveries and the installation of new, state-of-the-art, bark grading equipment. The total investment is in excess of £250,000.

“Demand for our products is continuing to grow across the entire range of landscape, play, grower and other products,” says Andy Chalmers, Melcourt Sales and Marketing Director. “The new yard layout vastly increases the speed at which we can turn round deliveries to our customers as well as delivering other efficiencies. The Doppstadt bark grading machine is the very first of its kind in the UK and ensures even better consistency in our bark products, but also dramatically reduces handling, so that costs are kept down. The quality produced is the best I have seen.”

Developed in Germany, the Doppstadt SM818 Profi Grader (pictured with Andy  Chalmers, Melcourt Sales and Marketing Director) is capable of between 500 and 800 cubic metres per day, taking in bulk raw material at one end and delivering three differently graded products at the other.

“It’s a huge step forward in the technology of our sector,” says Andy Chalmers. “I’m tremendously pleased that, once again, Melcourt are leading the way.”
