All tests were carried out by BSI Testing, Hemel Hempstead between March/April 1999 in accordance with the requirements of British Standard 7188:1998. Melcourt Playchips® were tested by The Centre for Sports Technology in December 1999. BSI Testing equipment only records critical heights up to 5.00 metres. To calculate the results over 5.00 metres, BSI Testing have extrapolated the results On the BSI Test Certificates for the 'Melcourt' brands of Loose Impact Absorbing Surfaces, the results over 5.00 metres are described as 'over 5.00 metres', or 'over 6.00 metres' for the 'Melcourt Playbark® 10/50' brand. The Centre for Sports Technology records test reults over 3.50 metres as > (greater than), without giving a specific fall height.

The maximum critical fall height allowed with BS EN 1177 is 3.00 metres. The test results are specific to 'Melcourt' brands of Loose Impact Absorbing Surfaces only.
