Product Description
- Melcourt Equisorb® consists of flax shives, graded and chopped to provide a consistent particle size range and is supplied in bales.
- Dust-extracted and free from contaminants, providing a clean and healthy environment for both the horse and the owner.
- The bed is not only dry (with only 9-10% moisture in the bale) but warm and comfortable in the winter (due to its high insulation factor) and cool and supportive in the summer.
Melcourt Equisorb®’s Absorbency
- In trials flax bedding was shown to be significantly more absorbent than other premium beddings, absorbing over 4 times its own weight of water.
- The Melcourt Equisorb® bed stays dry on top as any wet is absorbed beneath the surface, providing the horse with a particularly comfortable bed.

Product Features

Laying the Melcourt Equisorb® Bed
- Solid Floor - 12”x12” - a use of 7-8 bales is recommended for laying the initial bed. Trample in well (can use water if preferred) and do not remove the wet during the first week
- Rubber matting – 12”x12” – a use of 5-7 bales is recommended, according to what % of the floor area is being covered. Seek a depth of 6-8” on the area being covered. Brush up to the line to give the bed a firm edge
- Changing over to Melcourt Equisorb® from existing bedding:
- Straw bed – take out whole bed
- Shavings or hemp – if clean, top up with Melcourt Equisorb® and gradually, as the wet requires disposal, replace old bed with the new
