Having approved products put forward by the contractor for use on site, very carefully check that:

The product used is from the supplier approved and that the specification of the product matches the manufacturers technical specification and samples submitted.

The product has been installed to the correct depth/ratio. i.e:

Soil Ameliorants	-	to the specified incorporation depth and quantity
Tree & Shrub Planting Compost	-	in pits of the correct size (depth & diameter) and to the specified incorporation amount and ratio.
Mulches	-	to the specified settled depth
Walk Surfaces	-	to the specified settled depth.

If you have any doubts about the product used not conforming to specification, or the quantity used being less than that required, contact the product supplier direct and obtain written proof, in the form of copies of the contractors purchase orders and supplier delivery notes.
It is only be carefully paying attention to all of the above points, will the landscape architect, client officer etc., be sure that this part of the landscape contract is carried out in accordance with the written specification.
